Description & Justification of Metaphors
Interaction Metaphors
Icon Metaphor

A simple speech bubble is used to represent the message feature that allows the job searcher to connect with the recruiter of a company directly from the application. This icon is easily recognisable as many different applications use this type of icon to indicate that users can click on it to send a message or communicate with another user.

This icon is used to indicate ‘favourites’ in many e-commerce applications. Most users who have experience using these applications will know that this icon represents setting something to favourites, and in this case, it means saving a particular job listing to favourites. Users can view it later on while it is still available and accepting applicants.
Colour Metaphor

According to the colour psychology, blue is often associated with calming and relaxing effect. This colour is widely used throughout detailed job post pages to put the job searcher in the right headspace and not make any impulsive decisions or missing important parts of the job details when reading.

Reason or Justification of the Design
Similarity
In the log in page, there are different images used as icons at the left-hand side but the size and style are similar. Those icons are grouped in a column indicate they are sharing the same priority.
Proximity
In the page of creating a new job post, the job basic information and job details are separate by white space to clearly distinguish between group of basic information and group of further information regarding the job.
Enclosure
In the manage application page, there are 4 types of information being separated and enclosed. Firstly, it is the job basic information, follow by applier details, application form and lastly the attachments from the applier.
Figure and Ground
In the log in page, the user icon, username bar, password bar and log in button act as the figure meanwhile the white background act as the ground.
Strive for Consistency
In our LFP, the icons used such as inbox, reset password and phone number are consistent to today’s world well-known icons which recognise by most of the people. Besides, the colour we use for the buttons such as confirm and accept are green whereas the colour we use for the buttons such as cancel, reject and return are in red. These colours are chosen as it is following the community standards and trends of today.
Permit Easy Reversal of Actions
In the page of creating a new job post, there is a cancel button which allows the user to reverse their action just in case they accidentally out of vacancy for the job.
Offer Simple Error Handling
In the page of login account, it will appear a message below the password to tell the user to reenter the username and password or click the forgot password button if the user entered wrong username or password or even unable to fill in the password.
Offer Informative Feedback
When the user taps the log out icon, it will appear a message that asks the user whether they want to log out from the system which is human readable and meaningful in the way to make sure the user is intended to log out or not.
